Two Festival concerts on CBC Radio 2
A trio and a big band, from the 2008 Guelph Jazz Festival
CBC Radio 2's contemporary music show, The Signal, will be airing two more concerts from this year's Guelph Jazz Festival, tonight and next Monday.
* Airing tonight (Oct. 16), 11:30 pm: Barry Guy, Maya Homburger and Jeff Reilly. This trio consists of bassist Barry Guy (UK), violinist Maya Homburger (Switzerland) and clarinetist Jeff Reilly (Nova Scotia). Their performance blurred the line between composition and improvisation, and between classical chamber music and jazz.
* Airing on Monday (Oct. 20), 11 pm: ICP Orchestra. The Dutch-based Instant Composers Pool Orchestra was a 2008 Festival highlight. Their rambunctious and charming set brought our River Run Centre main stage audience to their feet with their rich ensemble and individual playing.
