Lullabies for a Sleepless City by Louisa Kratka & Evelyne Lavoie
Lullabies for a Sleepless City features soft voices, plucked strings and gentle noisemakers looped and layered into delicate, improvised nocturnes that explore the city's circadian rhythms. They aim to soothe the city's nervous system, blur the streak of car lights in the darkness and shush the passing whir of engines into urban slumber.
Violinist and vocalist Louisa Krátká and multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Evelyne Lavoie first met in 2007 during a workshop of R. Murray Schafer's Patria 7: Asterion, where they discovered their common interests in modal melodies, poetic ambiances and environmental issues. Lullabies for a Sleepless City presents the fruits of their exploration into each others' worlds.
