Christine Duncan and the Element Choir Project with William Parker (Ontario / USA)

Christine Duncan's Element Choir began with a small handful of her colleagues and students who sought to explore the potential of an improvising choir.  By the time the Element Choir launched At Rosedale United (Barnyard, 2010), Duncan's creativity and inclusive spirit had drawn seventy-five singers - professionals and enthusiastic amateurs alike - into the fold, along with hand-picked instrumentalists, Jean Martin, drums; Jim Lewis, trumpet; Jesse Zubot, violin; Eric Robertson, church organ; and special guest, New York's William Parker on double bass.  The Guelph incarnation of the Element Choir will be augmented by Guelph vocalists who have workshopped with Duncan in order to learn her inspiring conducting system for improvising singers.  With these extraordinary sonic resources in these capable hands, the Element Choir promises to be a spectacular experience, a joyful celebration of the human voice in creative music.
