Performers
Tin (Guelph)
Tin establishes a dialogue between the physical limitations of traditional rock instrumentation and the sonic limitlessness that technology allows for. The group formed in 2005 while the members were studying at the University of Guelph. Finding inspiration from the creative energy of seventies’ art rock and the experimentation of electroacoustic music, they began integrating complex arrangements, free improvisation, and digitally sculpted sounds. The self-released EP, Fleeting, helped establish Tin as a unique addition to the Guelph DIY music community.
Tin started recording material for a full length release while members were working on other musical projects (i.e. Households, Elbow Beach Surf Club, Ess Kalien). They released Activity in December 2007 on Guelph’s Burnt Oak Records, after two years of patiently stitching it together in the comfort of their homes. Vish Khanna writes, "Tin have unassumingly composed an understated masterwork with Activity."
Tin are currently working on new material as a 4-piece featuring David Bazinet (drums), Steven Beauchamp (bass, guitar, vocals), Joel Fulford (keyboards, electronics, guitar, bass, vocals) and Karl Skene (keyboards, electronics, guitar, bass, vocals), and for the Guelph Jazz Festival, will be collaborating with video artist Chris Veilleux.
